Story

Pipe dreams become reality. All because one person turned up for them to listen, advise and care.

We will be walking from Glasgow Green to Moss O'Balloch Park, Loch Lomond on Sunday 26th April, from 09:30am, to raise funds for the MCR Pathways Charity.

Who are Team Stantec?

Emma McCallum, Daniel McCallum, Kristina Krizanac, Yen‑Fang Tu, and Katherine Bogan.

Why Emma is fundraising for MCR Pathways

I have been a mentor for MCR Pathways for 3 ½ years. Growing up with my parents and two older brothers, I experienced a secure, loving, and supportive upbringing, and I now try to create the same environment for my own children. Because of that, it’s easy to assume that every child has someone at home cheering them on, encouraging them, and helping them navigate life’s challenges. This mentoring experience has gently but firmly challenged that naivety. It’s opened my eyes to how many young people quietly carry responsibilities, uncertainty, or a lack of consistent support, and how much a steady, caring presence can mean. I began this journey not knowing exactly what to expect. What I did know was that I wanted to make a difference - to be a consistent presence in a young person’s life, to listen, to encourage, and to believe in their potential, even when they couldn’t yet see it themselves. What I didn’t anticipate was how much I would learn in return. Being a mentor has taught me the value of patience, the importance of trust, and the profound impact of simply showing up. Watching confidence grow, goals take shape, and resilience strengthen in the face of challenge has been nothing short of inspiring - and it’s left me with an even stronger desire to help where I can. An opportunity arose to further support MCR Pathways through fundraising by taking part in the Mighty Stride Kiltwalk in April 2026. It felt like something my colleagues and I could genuinely take on together, and so Team Stantec was formed.

Why Daniel is fundraising for MCR Pathways

I’m taking part in the Kiltwalk to support MCR Pathways because I can see first hand how committed my mum and her colleagues are to creating better opportunities for young people. MCR Pathways helps young people build confidence, find direction, and reach their potential, and I want to do something practical to support that work. Walking alongside my mum makes this especially meaningful, and I’m proud to be part of a team raising funds for such an important cause.

Why Kristina is fundraising for MCR Pathways

Why Yen is fundraising for MCR Pathways

I believe that everyone deserves the chance to shine and succeed, regardless of their background. This fundraising walk is a chance to join other with the same believe and to support young people from under‑privileged families through practical action. By taking part, I hope to help fund programmes that build confidence, open doors, and give young people the tools they need to shape their own futures. It is a meaningful way to give back and contribute to lasting positive impact within the community.

Why Katherine is fundraising for MCR Pathways

I am keen to join the MCR Pathways Kiltwalk fundraising group as I resonate with the need to help create real opportunities for young people and support those facing difficult backgrounds/experiences. By helping to fundraise with the kiltwalk, I can play a small part in bridging the gaps in society that often limits young people from reaching their full potential. MCR Pathways’ work shows how consistent support, mentoring, and community involvement can transform confidence and aspirations. Personally, I think it is most important that we give back to society young and old (in this case young). Hence, being involved with raising funds for MCR Pathways allows Team Stantec to give back in a financial way which helps ensure that every young person, regardless of background, has the chance to thrive.
