From the hot Indian desert plains of Rajasthan to high-altitude mountain passes in the Himalayas….. it sounds like a wonderful, spiritual journey enjoying a different pace of life, until I add that this is:

-in a 3 wheeled auto-rickshaw or ‘tuk tuk’ (for the petrolheads, we’re talking a 4 stroke, 198.88cc glorified lawnmower engine with 10.5 hp)

-on terrible roads (some sections will very much be off/no road)

-2000km!!

-current forecasts show highs of +44c at the start, and lows of 0c at the finish

Just over 40 teams will set off from the start line and hopefully meet again at the finish line - the route between will be up to us and our navigation skills/sense of adventure. We’ve decided to raise money along the way for Bowel Cancer UK. I (Amelia) lost my wonderful Dad to cancer when he was just 68, only a few months after being diagnosed. As a nurse, Kev sees patients benefit from advances in earlier identification and treatment via education and research -including from Bowel Cancer UK. We want that trend of positive change to continue, so please dig deep and help us raise some cash! Dad loved taking the scenic route, and tinkering with/rebuilding cars, so I’m hoping to channel some of his fixing abilities when we break down, as well as his ability to chat to anyone with ease if we have any run-ins with the authorities…
