Story
Sadly this year on the 7th January 2026, our beloved friend Sandy Wilson took his own life.
Sandy touched many souls far and wide, the numbers at his funeral were a testament to that.
Sandy had many fitness events planned this year alongside friends. We are creating a fundraising team to still run all these events in Sandy's memory. Along with other friends now joining in.
Things that were planned:
Hyrox Glasgow solo and doubles with James Beattie. Doubles spot now filled by Connor Evison.
Ultra marathon alongside Justin Smith, Callum Ainsworth, Rory Campbell & Craig Barr.
Edinburgh marathon festival, running the full marathon with Sandy's bib his youngest brother Niall Wilson alongside James Beattie, Stevie Moran, Nathan McFarline, Gordon Wilson. And now additionally joined by Craigie Byrne. Marc Wilson, Scott Adam, Jamie Glancy, Jamie Mcdain & Alan Erskine running something between them in relay style. Details to be finalised.
This only covered the first half of the year.
Knowing Sandy he wouldn't have stopped there.
Perhaps we keep things going all year.
If I have missed anyone please reach out. If anyone wishes to be part of this and join the team in running something in Sandy's memory please reach out.
Team 147
As most of you know, Sandy was a huge part of our community at 147 Functional Fitness. He wasn’t just a member; he was the heartbeat of every long weekend run and gym class he was a part of.
This year, Sandy had signed up to take on the 110km race in a single day. The rest of us had opted for the “more sensible” 60km… mainly because we’re not quite as mad as he was.
So Justin, Callum, Rory and Craig have decided to step up and take on the full 110km race. The distance Sandy originally chose, in his honour.
This one’s for Sandy. For the miles he dragged us through. For the laughs on the runs. For showing us that limits are usually just excuses.
If you can, please donate and help us raise money in Sandy’s memory. Every contribution means the world.
