Chris and Tom Inglehearn and Joe Newman are running the Ilkley half marathon on behalf of the Burley-Téréli Friendship Trust (BTFT).

Téréli is a village on the edge of the Sahara desert in Mali, a harsh environment in a war-torn country which is one of the world's poorest. BTFT celebrates the link between Burley and Téréli and fundraises for much-needed projects in Téréli. These have included, among many other projects;

• Digging 49 wells in Téréli and nearby villages.

• Building a maternity room and dispensary.

• Funding a motor-cycle ambulance.

• Building a secondary school for girls and boys.

• Funding tree and grass planting to hold back the Sahara sand.

• Providing emergency famine relief.
