We provide free, one-to-one confidential counselling support to young people in St Albans, Harpenden and surrounding areas.

Story

Team JAB, Jim, Aaron and Ben will be joining an amazing group of 24 courageous supporters aiming to summit Mount Kilimanjaro, Africa's tallest mountain, in aid of Youth Talk.

Why are we doing this? We all have our own personal reasons, but the following two messages from former clients of Youth Talk, just two of hundreds we have received over the years, possibly say it best.

“Without Youth Talk my harmful habits would have probably put me in hospital or worse. I probably would have never been able to open myself up to help from others. Because I came to Youth Talk I got to reach my 16th birthday.”

“Going to Youth Talk was eye-opening and relieving because all the sorrows can be lifted when someone listens. There is an importance in comfort and understanding that I couldn’t find at home or at school or anywhere. I’m happy I took this step in my life and made this change for myself and recommend Youth Talk to anyone in the same situation. If I had not come to Youth Talk I would have become worse, possibly to the point of another suicide attempt.”

Youth Talk’s mission is to provide the best, possible mental health support to young people in St Albans and the surrounding areas. The Charity, unique in the UK, offering free, confidential, face to face counselling for 13-25 year olds in the St Albans District, for upto a whole year if required. No other service provides that level of support.

Youth Talk is currently supporting over 120 every week, and has another 70 on the waiting list, with numbers constantly growing.

How can you help?

£10 pays for an hour of the Youth Talk team to be on the phone to take that call from a young person in need.

£25 helps pay for resources to share with local schools.

£50 pays for a counselling session for a young person in need, from one of our 15 highly qualified counsellors.

It's important for there to be a safe, trustworthy, calm and professional environment for young people to feel comfortable in and share whatever is on their mind, Youth Talk can offer this.

Thanks to your donations (no matter what size), and support of our challenge– Youth Talk can continue to provide local young people with one-to-one counselling support during a real time of need, supporting young people to find courage, hope, happiness and purpose in life!
