Story
The idea for team swim caps came from my daughter Violet, who is a member of the Leeds Children's Transplant Team and a competitive swimmer for a local swimming club - Tadcaster York Sport Swim Squad. At the BTG in 2023, Violet wore her local club swim cap and expressed how she wished she had a Team Leeds cap to show everyone how proud she was of her team, just as she would when swimming for her local club. This feeling of wanting to 'belong' and show pride in team membership was shared by many of our junior swimmers and it led me to look at costings for ordering team swim caps. The reality was that our adult and junior teams were simply too small to place the volume of orders which would make caps affordable for everyone.
And so began Violet's mission to convince me to design and secure funding for team swim caps, so that our amazing adult and junior transplant swimmers could wear their Team Leeds kit with pride in their events - just as participants would in any other sport.
www.justswimmingcaps.com, based in Ilkley, very generously donated two sets of 50 branded swim caps to support both the Leeds Adults and Leeds Children's Transplant Teams. As our team funds are running very low this year, we are asking for a suggested minimum donation of £10 per swim cap. The caps can be collected from our team hotel at the BTG, or in advance from your team manager at St James' or Leeds Children's Hospital.
When making your donation, please:
- leave your full name (or swimmer's name, for parents of junior swimmers)
- indicate whether you are part of the children's or adults team
- indicate whether you would like to collect at the team hotel, or in advance via your team manager (Lisa or Kirsty).
