We support people living with LHON to improve their lives

Story

In April 2022 Lily lost her sight, aged 16 just a few weeks before sitting her GCSE exams. Lily's eyesight was lost to a rare disease, Leber's Hereditary Optic Neuropathy, or LHON for short. We knew nothing about this condition, but it took her central vision quickly. In June 2022 she was registered as severely sight impaired, essentially blind. Lily is a phenomenon; she hasn't hidden away from her new challenge and keeps fighting on. She is currently in her second year of A-Levels and planning university. Running has always been a  part of Lily's life but has become a major part of her life since losing her vision, to the extent that it has created a whole new ambition. Lily recently turned 18 and Loch Ness is one of the first marathons she could register for. Special thanks go to her team of guides (Andrew, Stuart, Clive and James) who will make sure she is safe and completes the event. Team Lily has set the challenge to raise money for the LHON Society, to support others in their LHON journey.
