Team Louise takes to the streets of London in kangaroo costumes

Sonja Timpson is raising money for First Touch
In memory of Louise Williams

Royal Parks Half Marathon 2025 · 12 October 2025 ·

First Touch supports sick and premature babies cared for at St George’s neonatal unit in SW London. We fund state-of-the-art equipment and specialist staff training which are outside of the scope of NHS budgets, as well as a range of initiatives to support families during their stay on the unit.

Story

Nicola, Lucas, Lucy and Sonja are all donning kangaroo costumes to run the Royal Parks Half Marathon in memory of the lovely Louise Williams, who dedicated many years of her life to First Touch and the Neonatal Unit at St George's. Louise had come up with the silly idea of running in a kangaroo costume (as a nod to the wonderful benefits of Kangaroo Care), so we felt it would be a brilliant tribute to her to actually do it! Louise was a fun and happy force in all our lives, so it feels right that we are doing something fun and happy to remember her.

As part of Louise's legacy, First Touch's provision of books on the Neonatal Unit is now called Louise's Library. Louise was passionate about books, and especially about the benefits that reading to babies can bring. We'd love to be able to raise enough money to fund Louise's Library for a significant period of time, as well as for some of the other welfare projects that Louise helped to drive on the unit.
