Story
On Sunday 3rd September a team of budding NFU Cymru triathletes will be taking on Bala Triathlon relay with the aim of raising funds for the DPJ Foundation.
First up, Jemma Gilligan will be entering the waters of Llyn Tegid to swim 1,500 metres (nearly a mile). Upon completing the swim, Jemma will hand the baton over to Rhodri Jones, who'll jump on the saddle of his bike for a 24-mile ride around his home county of Meirionnydd. Dan Johns will be bringing the team home with a six mile run along the banks of the lake.
Funds raised by the NFU Cymru team will support the DPJ Foundation, a charity established in July 2016, supporting those in the agricultural sector. The charity is named in honour of Pembrokeshire agricultural contractor Daniel Picton-Jones, who took his own life after suffering from poor mental health issues, which went undiagnosed. Daniel's widow, Emma, established the DPJ Foundation to support the mental health of those in the farming sector, for those who feel just as Daniel did, providing them with the support that he didn’t know how to get. The mental health farming charity has grown and covers the whole of Wales with a focus on local counselling and mental health awareness training and promotion.
