Story
Our beautiful boy received intensive chemotherapy and treatment for hepatoblastoma (childhood liver cancer) at the Royal Marsden hospital. The outlook was grim and the treatment dreadful, but thanks to the work the hospital does, Reuben is now five years old and thriving. Cancer free. He was treated twice because the cancer returned nine months after the initial treatment, and during the course of the chemotherapy lost the ability to walk and eat, lost his immunity and his hair and he ended up in intensive care three times as a result of his body being destroyed by the chemo. The severity of the treatment means he will need his heart, kidneys and hearing assessed for the rest of his life.
The Royal Marsden Cancer Charity raises money solely to support The Royal Marsden. The Charity ensures that the nurses, doctors and research teams can provide the very best care and develop life-saving treatments, which are used across the UK and around the world. On the 12th - 13th July, with the help of an awesome support crew, Dave and I will be climbing Scafell Pike before cycling roughly 240 miles (390 kilometres) overnight to finish with completing Ben Nevis. It’s a huge challenge!
If you are able, we ask that you consider supporting our cause and donating to such a worthy charity. We passionately believe that research is the only way to make cancer treatment less horrific, and even a small amount could change the lives of cancer patients and their families. Thank you.
