Running for Samuel – The Great North Run 2025
On 7th September 2025, just days after marking five years since we lost our precious Samuel to suicide at just 17, the three of us—Harry, Daisy and I—will be taking on the Great North Run in his memory. Lily will be there too, proudly cheering us on with her two little ones.
Honouring Samuel and striving to make a difference in his name has been central to our survival. Suicide loss is utterly devastating—its aftermath chaotic, enduring, and life-altering. Finding purpose through grief has been a lifeline. For Harry and Daisy, running has offered headspace and focus. As a novice runner, this challenge will stretch me to my limits—but I’m trusting the incredible North East crowds to carry me to the finish line.
We’re raising vital funds for Quinn's Retreat, a small but powerful North East charity supporting people bereaved by suicide or struggling with their mental health. They offer free respite breaks in holiday homes—a safe, peaceful space to reflect, grieve, and reconnect. As a trustee, I am deeply committed to helping Quinn’s Retreat grow and continue this essential work, in memory of Dyllon, Quinn, and our Samuel.
We’d be so grateful for any donation you feel able to give. Every pound helps keep this lifeline going—for every family walking this difficult path.
I can picture Samuel waiting at the finish line—with his trademark smirk, laughing at our efforts. We run for him, and for every family like ours.
Thank you so much for your support.
