Story
We are a team from the Trauma Unit at the Royal Berkshire Hospital, taking on the Reading Half Marathon 2027 to raise money for our trauma patients and the staff who care for them.

Every day, our team looks after patients whose lives have been suddenly changed by an injury. From major trauma and fractures to complex orthopaedic injuries, our patients often face a long road to recovery.
We see the pain, the frustration and the uncertainty, but we also see the determination.
We see patients take their first steps again.
We see families supporting each other.
We see people regain their independence.
And we see our incredible staff go above and beyond to help make that happen.
This is why we are running.
Our fundraising will be through Royal Berkshire Charity, with funds supporting our trauma patients and our staff.
The money raised can help provide additional resources, equipment, activities and support that can make a genuine difference to the patient experience and recovery. It can also contribute towards the wellbeing and support of the staff who dedicate themselves to caring for others every day.
For many of us, running a half marathon will be a challenge in itself. But every difficult kilometre will remind us of the challenges our patients face during their recovery.
When our legs get tired, we’ll think about the patients taking those difficult first steps.
When we want to slow down, we’ll think about those who are working hard every day to get stronger.
And when we cross that finish line, we hope to know that every mile helped raise money for something bigger than ourselves.
Our patients inspire us. Our colleagues motivate us. And our community can help us make a difference.
Whether you donate £5, £10 or simply share our fundraising page, your support means a great deal to us.
Together, we can turn 13.1 miles into something meaningful.
