Story
I'm running the Hackney Half to raise money for my kids’ primary school.
It’s a brilliant and well-run school and its commitment to fairness is one of its core values. But it faces major financial pressures so along with a few other parents from the school, we’re running the Hackney Half marathon to raise funds to after school clubs remain free for all students.
Clubs are not only fun but also an opportunity to learn a new skill, build confidence and make new friends. The clubs range from football, dance, gymnastics to art club and Lego club.
If you know me well then you’ll know that I’m moderately fit, I gently jog with some other parents after school drop-off one day a week and play 5 a side football when I don’t have niggling injuries. I also ran Hackney Half in 2014, hated it and swore never to do a half marathon again, so this is a big deal for me to try again after 11 years!
Thank you!
