Supporting Sumbandila to provide scholarships to private schools and educational outreach programs to children in rural areas in South Africa, to transform the lives of underprivileged children, creating entrepreneurs and leaders who will make significant contributions to the future of South Africa.

Story

We are looking to raise £12,000 ahead of our trip with our mums and some friends in November to Limpopo, South Africa.

This charity (which was started by amazing people) is called Sumbandila in South Africa and it provides a whole education package (school, bed, food and more importantly education) for children who don’t have the opportunity to go to a good school. Our target is to raise a minimum of £3,000 per person to be able to go and help the children this November who are not as lucky as us. Our parents are paying for the trip, so any money we raise will go 100% towards helping.

You may think we are a bit young, but we want to contribute as much as we can. We cannot help everyone (there are too many kids in this unfortunate situation in South Africa) but by providing a scholarship for one child, they grow up and return to help give back to their communities! Sumbandila (the charity) started only 10 years ago, and it has been going ever since! So far, Sumbandila has had 132 children graduated to become lawyers' accountants, doctors, engineers and many more! We believe by helping people, we now know that the world will be a better place.

We want to help and visit the charity to raise money but for this we need to raise at least £3,000 each which will give four children a chance to get out of town – to study, this is why we have set up this page to ask you if you are willing to donate to this amazing cause!

When we are there (in South Africa) we are able to see how they live but more importantly, tell the new scholarship kids that they are going to our school and that from that moment their life will change forever! As part of the charity, we have also donated to the school, get to play with the kids, dance, play football, provide a full education for them and finally provide them with nutritious food! As they could not afford proper food before winning the scholarship (what they mostly ate was maize which is a bit like dry rice pudding!) they love when they get the chance to eat nutritious food. More importantly, we learn as much from them as they learn from us!

During the trip we are going to see the children in their homes (which is usually one or two rooms where their family sleep on the floor) to tell them they got into our school! We will also be able to watch the show that the Sumbandila kids put on in the school when we arrive, which is amazing! Finally, at the end of the trip we have a massive football match which is the best! They are so good!!!

We hope you can consider making a donation and that you have a wonderful day!

Love
