Story
On October 19th, I'll be running the Altra York Marathon to fundraise for Medical Aid for Palestinians (MAP). The work MAP does is needed now more than ever, delivering essential health and medical aid to Palestinians suffering under military occupation.
Israel's siege of Gaza is causing severe famine amongst the population, having left 44% of pregnant and breastfeeding mothers suffering from severe malnutrition, and this year alone, at least 147 people (including 88 children) have died from starvation.
Since October 2023, Israeli forces have killed more than 60,000 Palestinians in Gaza, with at least 146,000 injured and in desperate need of medical treatment.
MAP's vision is a future where all "Palestinians can access an effective, sustainable and locally-led system of healthcare, and the full realisation of their rights to health and dignity." (MAP, What We Do)
The money raised from this event will go to help support MAP's medical projects supporting Palestinians living under occupation and as refugees.
This is the impact our funding could achieve:
£50 could feed malnourished children in Gaza.
£100 could help provide urgent medical supplies in West Bank.
£500 could help a refugee family fleeing a conflict.
