Story
Every Christmas, thousands of children across the UK go without the comfort and joy that many of us take for granted. The Salvation Army Christmas Present Appeal works tirelessly to change that—providing gifts, warmth, and hope to families facing hardship.
This year, my business Colchester Militaria is supporting that mission by transforming surplus British Army camouflage (MTP) and ceremonial uniform fabric into handmade teddy bears. Each bear is a symbol of care, crafted with love and purpose.
We’re inviting members of the public to help build these bears—either by stitching them at home using our Build-a-Bear Kits, or by joining Community Stitching Sessions in local venues. Once completed, the bears will be sold at fairs and through our website, with all proceeds going to support the appeal.
Your stitching helps us do more than recycle fabric—it helps us restore dignity, spark joy, and remind children that they matter.
Whether you make one bear or ten, you’re helping turn remnants of service into symbols of comfort.
