The National Three Peaks Challenge

Cambridgeshire Community Foundation helps local people to offer support to projects they care about; ones that are making a difference to the lives of local people. Through the Funds donors set up and grow at CCF, grants are made to support local charitable projects

Story

We believe that health and well being, learning and education are integral to building stronger communities and helping people to a better future.

And so, a group of us here at Tees are delighted to announce that we will be taking on one more challenge this year to raise funds for the Tees Better Future Fund which, through Cambridgeshire Community Foundation, offers grants up to £5000 for projects that have a particular focus on promoting learning, education, good health and well being.

The National Three Peaks Challenge -> July 2023

This Challenge involves climbing Ben Nevis, Scafell Pike and Snowdon consecutively. It is around 26 miles to trek and ascend to a total height of almost 3,000m. We will be setting off on 22 July and are aiming to complete the challenge in less than 15 hours (walking time). This is a serious and tough challenge which requires a good level of fitness, as well as plenty of grit and determination.

We have set ourselves an ambitious fundraising target of £15,000 and, with your generosity, we hope to achieve this.

Walkers: Sally Powell, Charlie Neal, Dan Bowen, Janine Collier, Mark Chiverton, Tim Deeming, Tom Moulsdale, Kay Piper, Eleanor Burroughs, Jane Winfield, Chris Claxton-Shirley, Alex Waples, Helen Craughwell and Alison Hills

The Tees Better Future Fund

Tees is committed to supporting our local communities to a better future. The creation of the Tees Better Future Fund builds on Tees’ heritage and legacy as a firm that values life-long learning and connecting people and communities through the generations. The Fund is delighted to offer grants up to £5000 for projects that have a particular focus on:

Promoting Learning and Education

We support projects that promote talent, increase social mobility and create opportunities for people to thrive and fulfil their potential. We believe that, working in partnership with projects that look to increase knowledge, improve mental health, build skills and raise confidence through learning and education, together we can improve the life chances of the younger generation.

Promoting Good Health and Wellbeing

We support projects that increase access to sports and exercise for children, young people and families, and help to improve physical and mental health through activity. Tees promotes healthy life-styles and bringing people together through sports and physical activity, in turn creating new opportunities, promoting community cohesion and reducing isolation. Projects that support people’s mental health are also funded.

We are delighted to say that the Hadrian's Wall Challenge, which took place from 26 to 30 May 2023, was a resounding success. The challenge involved walking 84 miles / 135 km from Wallsend on the east coast of England to Bowness-on-Solway on the west coast. The team, consisting of Natalie Pibworth, Chantae Clark, Rachel Benton and Janine Collier, completed the challenge in just 4 days - a remarkable achievement considering fit walkers are recommended to allow for 6 to 7 days! Collectively, the team raised a phenomenal amount which will go to helping people in our local communities to a better future.
