Story
Ollie, the kids and I will all be running in May for the Edinburgh Marathon. Ollie will be running the full marathon, I will be running the half marathon, and the kids will be taking part in the 1k and 1.5k runs.
We are running in loving memory of our baby, Lottie, who gained her wings in 2017.
As this year marks mine and Ollie’s 10-year anniversary, and we are also approaching what would have been Lottie’s 10th birthday, we wanted to raise as much money as possible for Simba — a charity that means so much to us and is incredibly close to our hearts.
Because of Simba, we have clay footprints of Lottie and a beautiful memory box that we will treasure forever. Inside is her birth certificate and precious keepsakes. This meant the world to us, as a baby is not officially registered until 24 weeks, and we lost Lottie at 23 weeks. That recognition of her life meant everything.
The most important and treasured gift Simba gave us was the opportunity to spend the night with Lottie after she passed away. Simba ensures that families have access to special rooms so this can happen, and we will always be deeply grateful for that.
During such a heartbreaking time, when we couldn’t think straight, Simba guided us with care and compassion that we will never, ever forget. They gave us memories and keepsakes we will treasure forever.
Although we cannot have Lottie with us, we carry her in our hearts always. We want to show just how much this charity meant to us and give something back.
Thank you, Simba.
