Story
Please sponsor the beagles (Lilly, Chevron, Ziva, Whisky and Betty) to complete this challenge, as they walk, wag (ahhhrrrrooh) and change lives!
Every step and every pound will make a difference for dogs with inherited disease. We recently said an early goodbye to Primrose, from Lilly's first litter, she was only five. We hope at some point the type of cancer she had can be prevented through DNA testing.
Thank you 🐾
The Canine Genetics Research team in the Department of Veterinary Medicine, led by Dr Cathryn Mellersh, is passionate about investigating inherited diseases in dogs. Donations are used to support ongoing and future research to improve the health of future generations of dogs.
The beagles are taking part in Paws 4 Paws: the big DNA dog walk! During November, we are aiming to walk 100km to raise money for the Canine Genetics Centre.
Those of you who know beagles well, know they love nothing better than snoozing during the winter! But do not fear our old Lilly, Ziva, Chevron, Whisky and Betty will be motivated with treats and the knowledge they are supporting a very important cause.
The Canine Genetics Centre is a charity which carries our life-changing research for dogs investigating genetic diseases such as epilepsy and those which cause blindness. It’s vital research benefits generations of dogs – even puppies who are yet to be born!
We will keep you updated throughout the journey.
