Story
For some reason in a moment of madness, I included completing a half marathon on my "40 before 40" bucket list!
I've never run more than 5k in one go before signing up for this and I started my 14 week training plan at the 9 week mark! So, having started this journey on the back foot, my aim is to cross the finish line in one piece!
So why run for 'Growing Hope'? Well, the word I chose to unpick, ponder and muse over at the beginning of 2024 is 'hope' and I have found it quite difficult holding on to hope in some very challenging and emotionally draining situations. I was drawn however to the idea of 'growing' hope as an active intention, working through pain and disappointment and remaining hopeful in the Truth despite what life throws.
"Growing Hope provides a range of free therapies including occupational therapy, speech and language therapy and music therapy to help children and young people reach their potential. They also provide support for parents, carers and siblings through groups and courses. They bring hope to children through free therapy services. They grow hope for families where hope has been lost due to isolation or rejection. They share hope in Jesus because he brings hope even in the most difficult situations.
Research suggests that families aren't getting the support they need on the NHS as services are currently stretched. Growing Hope aims to bridge the gap by providing support for families who are desperate for help. Each clinic costs £50,000 to run a year and they are entirely dependent on donations and grants." www.growinghope.org.uk
The work 'Growing Hope' does is truly meaningful, inspiring and so desperately needed so please give what you can to help transform the lives of children with additional needs and their families.
Thank you!!
