I have joined Starlight to run the London Marathon 2025.

I used to hate running, saying ‘I can’t run’ and I couldn’t! I couldn’t even run down the road but as I got more into fitness and started learning about nutrition, losing a whopping 10.1 stone, I decided that I wanted to achieve something to show how far I have come in my fitness journey and what better way to do that was by completing my First marathon

Being a Teacher and working in the industry of how important learning and nurturing is on a child's achievements to excel in education, I believe every child should have that opportunity even if they are not able to be in school environment for whatever reason. Poorly children are still entitled to excel and access play and education.

Starlight are passionate about protecting every child's right to play, which takes them to the bedsides of some of the most poorly children in the UK, and making sure they have the tools to play through their anxiety, fear and loneliness.

Life in hospital isn't easy, especially when you're young. Suddenly you find yourself in a strange and lonely place full of unfamiliar sights and sounds.

In donating, you are directly helping children to cope with serious illness by giving them tools to manage these times when they need it most. Not only this, but you're also helping to support their siblings and parents by providing vital funds to provide them with funding family breaks and away days, giving them a chance to make comforting, life lasting memories together, no matter what the future may bring.

Evidence shows that play has the power to reduce fear, pain and trauma during treatment and recovery from illness - boosting mental and physical health and resilience. We work to ensure every child has the opportunity, space and time to experience play. We also undertake research and campaign to ensure children’s right to play is protected and provided for.
