We have a vision of a society where suicide and suicide prevention are openly and widely discussed, where we inspire hope through action, where people are suitably supported and where everyone plays their part in realising this vision

Story

Thank you to all those who already donated towards to help and support suicide prevention.

I’m asking for your generosity if you haven't donated it yet as it is vital to continue the fight against this ‘’invisible mortal’’.

We need to prevent and help this invisible killer as it's more common than we think.

The "312 Challenge" is an awe-inspiring charity event we're organising to raise £31,200 for The Baton of Hope UK, raising awareness of suicide prevention, improving access to information and services so as to prevent suicide.

Suicide is the leading cause of death in Men under 50.

Over 700,000 people take their own life each year – that’s one person every 40 seconds (World Health Organisation)

In average more than 13 Men a day take their own life.

On the 1st of June in 1999, 25 years ago my Dad took his life. At that time I didn’t understand why.

My Mum, Brother and I went through a rollercoaster of painful emotions. 💔

I had to talk to my friends and eventually a professional counsellor to process and accept emotions and the cruel facts.

This event holds special significance for me as I'm dedicating it to my father.

My Dad was a farmer. He worked day and night so very hard to provide us with a good quality of life.

He was such a helpful character but would never ask for help himself, so proud.

His life was his work and work was his life which later became the demise of him.

25 years ago I didn't see the signs after he had stopped working and staying at home, I was only 19 years old.

His spark for life died as he did not know anything apart from his work.He was put on medication and we thought all this behaviour was a side effect of that.

We thought he just needed time to find his purpose again without the relentless work routine that he was used to.

We never ever thought that he was planning to leave us forever. 💔🖤

Depression affects 1 in 4 people at some point in their lifetime

Men don't talk, or find it more difficult to talk to express how are they feeling and more likely to end their own lives.

According to Global Suicide Statistics: An individual suffering with depression is 20 times more likely to die by suicide than someone without the disorder.

To mark this anniversary with something helpful and positive and prevent this happening to other families in the future, I wanted to turn a painful experience into a force for change.

THE CHALLENGE: Mental-k.312

Mental- for mental health, Mentalk because men lack communication skills

312 because this is the distance between my home and the city where My Dad always wanted to go is 312 km so I'll take him there 3 times in 24 hours.

1st - 312 kg total lift Squat- Bench-Deadlift

2nd - 3.12KM of Swimming in the pool

3rd - 312 km of outdoor bike ride

Your support will help raise awareness, which in turn will elevate prevention before it's too late for many families and individuals.

If I can play back time I would talk ask more questions, look and try to see the Red flags. 🚩

It would mean the world to me if you either donate, or help me spreading the word, your involvement will help us achieve our fundraising goal and bring positive change to countless lives.

Anything you give is hugely appreciated - thank you for reading my story.
