In April 2027, I’ll be taking on the iconic TCS London Marathon, after entering the ballot on a whim.

If you know me, you'll know just how ridiculous that sounds. I'm not a runner. I don't play sports. My fitness is pretty much non-existent. I'm going from sitting on the sofa to attempting to run 26.2 miles.

It's a challenge that feels impossible right now, but over the coming months I'll be training, learning and pushing myself far beyond anything I've ever done before.

I'm taking on this challenge for me - to prove I can, for my girls - to show anything is possible, for every child and family that's suffered the pain of a serious accident and for every emergency services worker that's had to attend the scene of a horrific accident, fight to save an injured child or break terrible news to a family.

That's why I'll be raising money for the Child Accident Prevention Trust (CAPT), a charity doing incredible work to stop children being killed or seriously injured in preventable accidents.

Accidents happen in seconds, but the consequences can last a lifetime. For families facing the loss of a child or the reality that their once healthy child is now severely disabled, the anguish is unthinkable. Yet many accidents, with their life-changing consequences for children and their families, are completely avoidable.

CAPT works to give parents, carers and professionals the knowledge and practical advice they need to keep children safe, helping to prevent devastating accidents before they happen. Their work means more children can grow up healthy, active and free from serious injury.

Every donation, no matter the size, will help CAPT continue this vital work. Your support won't just help fund a charity that's making a real difference - it will also keep me going through the months of training, the early mornings, the aching legs and every single mile on marathon day.

Every mile I run will be tough. But that's nothing compared with what families face after an avoidable accident changes their lives forever.
