Terrell Takes On The London Landmarks Half Marathon - Rethink Mental Illness

London Landmarks Half Marathon 2024 · 7 April 2024 ·
My name is Terrell Brown and I’m RUNNER!
My love affair with running began when I joined the Cross Country team my sophomore year of high school in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. I had no idea what was required of XC athletes, but I entered the sport with full determination and unwavering commitment. Unfortunately, my time as XC athlete was short lived. I never had the opportunity to participate in any meets due to me transferring to another high school that did not have an athletic department. Despite not being able to compete and practice with a team, my love of running never dissipated.
Outside of the sport, it quickly became an escape, a window of time to express myself, dream, and use the power of my imagination to mentally map out my wildest dreams.
In 2021, I had the opportunity to return back to the place where I discovered running and completed my first marathon in my. It was like a dream deferred. After the Louisiana Marathon, I committed to run a marathon in every state I lived in. As of today I have five full marathons and two half marathons under my belt.
When I’m in training mode I push myself mentally, physically, and emotionally to reach new heights as a runner. But after my last race in Oregon, I wanted to run for something bigger than my own personal goals.
So, I turned to the World Wide Web. I got on the google machine to search for organizations that incorporated organized running with their mission to promote and bring awareness to social issues that our global communities are facing.
I stumbled across ReThink during my search.
ReThink is organization that provide tools and resources to improve, empower, and support individuals facing a spectrum of mental illnesses. A topic of discussion that I have personally experienced over the years.
I’m extremely excited to partner with ReThink to aide in change and shed light on mental illness.
I typically train solo for my races but this time is different. This marathon is special and like no other marathon I’ve ever registered for. With that being said, I need the support of all the special people in my life to get me across this finish line.
My target fundraising goal is £350, but I know that can be surpassed with the help of my friends and family!
I’m looking forward to sharing my training with all of you as we prepare for the London Landmark Half Marathon.
