Story
In January 2024, I was diagnosed with oesophagal cancer with no symptoms or signs of illness. By chance, I was invited to attend a free lung health scan at Doncaster Royal Infirmary which found an abnormality.
Last year consisted of chemotherapy, followed by a complex operation (Ivor Lewis) in July 2024 - which included watching England in the Euro's Final in intensive care. This was followed by more chemotherapy which concluded in November.
The journey would have been 10 times harder without my family & friends. Huge thanks to you all ❤️ 💙
Throughout the year, the staff at Weston Park (Sheffield/Barnsley), Northern General, and Doncaster Royal Infirmary were incredibly supportive and helped me & my family deal with the difficult year. I cannot express how grateful I am.
I'd also like to thank Leon at Functional Fitness, who supported my physical and mental well-being from day one. The work he does is not rewarded enough!
With everything going to plan, I'm now on the road to recovery and working towards full health 💪🏻
To give back to Weston Park, and celebrate the times ahead, I've organised a charity football game at Millmoor, a place where I've had so many fond memories over the years.
The game will take place on Sunday 30th March with stands open to spectators. We'll be starting at approximately 9.30 am. More details on the format to follow.
We'll also be running a raffle (cash only), with hot drinks and food available to purchase.
I'd love to see as many family & friends there as possible (including children) to support this wonderful charity ⚽️
