Sepsis accounts for 48,000 deaths annually in the UK, that’s more than breast, bowel and prostate cancer put together. Sepsis is what happens when our immune system overreacts to an infection. Symptoms initially present as flu like but can rapidly deteriorate into a life threatening condition.

Story

People close to me know that as a family we have had a personal experience of sepsis and is very crucial that we increase awareness and fight against sepsis. It raises awareness and sparks the question: “What is sepsis?” In this way, fundraising can help prevent thousands of deaths and unnecessary suffering through knowledge and awareness of the symptoms. It also funds vital support work, Public Awareness, Educating Health Professionals, and helping people adjust to life after sepsis through accessing our Support Group network. We also lobby government to support our cause and make vital changes in areas such as the NHS.

I am participating in a 5k run on March 16, 2025, to raise funds for the UK Sepsis Trust. This personal marathon event is an opportunity for us to advocate for greater awareness and support for those affected by sepsis. Your contribution will make a meaningful difference in our efforts to combat this life-threatening condition.
