Emma and Sam's fundraiser for The Lewis Foundation

Thames Path Ultra Challenge 2024 · 14 September 2024 ·
On the 12th April 2024, my mum was admitted to Lincoln General Hospital for life saving surgery, following a breast cancer diagnosis. A terrifying and stressful time for everyone, however one of the things she told me made it just a little bit better was a care package from The Lewis Foundation. A simple, act of kindness from complete strangers made a huge difference at a very dark time.
At The Lewis Foundation we source, package and hand deliver gift packs for free to adult cancer patients in hospitals in the Midlands and the community weekly. These are items that patients might find difficult to buy themselves or simply cannot afford – and that brings people happiness and comfort at a difficult time. For many people in hospital and the community, our volunteers are their only regular visitors. We currently provide over 2000 gifts per month to 17 hospitals. People can pick a gift of their choice for free from our gift list.
The last time I ran a 100km event was in 2015, I am hoping this will be the kickstart I need to get back to the level of fitness I had back then - and raising money for an amazing cause will be the icing on the cake!
Emma decided to shave her hair in solidarity with her mum as she started Chemo, Sam, being the amazing, wonderful friend has agreed to do the same! 10th August, The Butchers Hook, in Thornbury, time to be confirmed.
