Thames Tideway Dinghy Derby

Edward Low is raising money for Scaramouche Sailing Trust

Thames Tideway Dinghy Derby · 20 June 2026

We fund the trailblazing Greig City Academy: The UK’s only inner-city school sailing programme competing at national level. This programme transforms the lives of inner-city London students. They were the first state school to do the Fastnet race & the youngest on the Round the Island.

Story

A race to celebrate the opening of the Thames Tideway Super Sewer and cleaner water in the Thames for recreational use.

Ranelagh Sailing Club will be hosting the Thames Tideway Dinghy Derby sailing race from Putney to 'Big Ben and Back'.

Working with the Port of London Authority, and Sponsors: The Tideway Consortium and Thames Water, we will be supporting the Scaramouche Sailing Trust that creates life-changing opportunities for young people from diverse backgrounds through the power of sailing.

This incredible charity raises funds that enable the Greig City Academy (GCA), a secondary school in Haringey's, sailing programme to:

● Provide sail training, mentoring, and life-skills development (confidence, teamwork, responsibility)

● Provide logistic and pastoral support so students can train and compete in national sailing events

● Provide a model for other schools and young people to access the benefits of sailing.

● Deliver hands-on sailing experiences for students of all ages and backgrounds

● Show what is possible for young people from disadvantaged backgrounds, to change their outcomes at school and in life, though sailing

As well as private donations, there are a number of corporate packages to take advantage of which will fantastic profile-raining opportunities and some reserved race entries at the now sold-out event. Please contact me directly to enquire.
