Story
On 2 November, I have the privilege of running through the streets of New York City in the Marathon. But this year, it will be different.
This time, I run without my father.
Sadly, my dad Gerry passed away on 1 July this year. I was blessed to call him Dad — a man who meant the world to me, and to many others who saw him as a father figure. In his final days, he was cared for at St. Francis Hospice in Blanchardstown. I’ll forever be grateful for the kindness, dignity, and compassion he received there. Their facility, their people, their values — they were truly exceptional.
So in his honor, and as a way of saying “thank you,” I’m fundraising for St. Francis Hospice. Any donation — big or small — would mean the world to me and those they care for.
My training block for this marathon has been one of the hardest I’ve ever done. And while one of my greatest cheerleaders won’t be waiting at the finish line this time, I carry him with me every mile.
Thank you for your kindness, your support, and for helping me make something beautiful out of loss.
