Story

The St Austell Brewery Charitable Trust has appointed Children's Hospice South West as its Charity of the Year for 2026 and 2027. All funds raised received through this page by the St Austell Brewery Charitable Trust - in connection with this fundraising campaign - will be donated to Children's Hospice South West.

About the Challenge

The St Austell Brewery Charitable Trust (the Trust) was established to support charitable causes through the provision of funding and assistance that make a positive difference to the lives of individuals and communities.

The Trust has selected Children's Hospice South West as its Charity of the Year for 2026 and 2027. Throughout the partnership, the Trust will lead and coordinate fundraising activities across the St Austell Brewery group, with colleagues, customers and supporters coming together to raise funds.

This September, colleagues will mark St Austell Brewery's 175th anniversary with a bumper week of fundraising, taking on five walking, cycling and running challenges. Every mile covered and every donation received will support the Trust's fundraising campaign for Children's Hospice South West. The challenges are:

Challenge 1, Saturday 5th September: A 22-mile running route between Bristol and Bath, linking all our managed sites in the area (Wellington, Locksbrook, Moorfields, and the Hare & Hounds).

Challenge 2, Sunday 6th September: A 22-mile circular cycling route from the Borough Arms (Bodmin) to Padstow via Wadebridge and then returning to the Borough Arms.

Challenge 3, Monday 7th September: A 13-mile hiking challenge from Branscombe to Lyme Regis along the South West Coast Path.

Challenge 4, Thursday 10th September: A 6-mile coastal hike from the Wellington in Boscastle to the Port William in Tintagel (with plenty of inclines).

Challenge 5, Saturday 12th September: A 17.5 mile circular hike (to mark our 175th anniversary) starting at St Austell Brewery and walking to Mevagissey.

How will your donation help?

Children's Hospice South West provides expert care for babies, children and young people with life-limiting conditions and supports their families through every stage of their journey. Through its hospices and outreach services, the charity offers specialist medical care, short breaks, practical help, emotional support and bereavement services, enabling families to make the most of their time together.

As demand for these services continues to grow, Children's Hospice South West relies heavily on voluntary donations. By supporting this challenge, you will help ensure that more local families can access the care and support they need during some of life's most difficult moments.

About the Partnership

As a family-owned business rooted in the South West, St Austell Brewery is committed to supporting the communities it serves. The St Austell Brewery Charitable Trust (the Trust) leads the company's charitable giving and fundraising activities, bringing together colleagues, customers and partners to support causes that make a positive difference across the region.

For 2026 and 2027, the Trust has appointed Children's Hospice South West as its Charity of the Year. As part of this partnership, the Trust will coordinate a programme of fundraising activities. All monies raised through these activities will be paid to and managed by the Trust, which will then make donations to Children's Hospice South West in accordance with the Charity of the Year partnership.

Children's Hospice South West is the region's only children's hospice charity, providing expert care and support for babies, children and young people with life-limiting conditions, as well as their families. Through the Trust's fundraising efforts, donations made by the Trust to Children's Hospice South West will help support the delivery of vital services, including specialist medical care, respite breaks, emotional support and bereavement care, helping more local families access support when they need it most.
