Story

The 848 Group is taking on the Yorkshire Three Peaks challenge to raise money for its local charity, Dougie Mac.

The route is a 5200ft ascent, over 24 miles, in under 12 hours...

A team from 848 made up of staff from all areas of the business will be tackling the challenge on Saturday the 20th of May. Their aim is to finish all three peaks in 12 hours or less.

All donations will be greatly appreciated in helping us raise as much money as we can for Dougie Mac. 848 is passionate about supporting local businesses and we are proud to support this cause. All funds will go direct to Dougie Mac after the challenge.

About the Yorkshire Three Peaks

The Yorkshire Three Peaks Challenge takes on the peaks of Pen-y-ghent, Whernside and Ingleborough. These peaks form part of the Pennine range, and encircle the head of the valley of the River Ribble, in the Yorkshire Dales National Park.

This is a 24 mile climb up, down and around three peaks in the Yorkshire Dales:

Pen-y-Ghent (694 metres)

Whernside (736 metres)

Ingleborough (723 metres)

About Dougie Mac

Dougie Mac is 848's chosen local charity of the year. We’re committed as a business to supporting them in as many ways as we can, whether that’s with fundraising events or volunteering.

The Dougie Mac Hospice provides hospice services free of charge to over 3,000 patients with life-limiting illnesses each year. Across the North Staffordshire area, Dougie Mac goes the extra mile to provide a warm, friendly, and peaceful environment both at the hospice and in family homes. The charity works hard to continuously improve its services, always striving to deliver the very best care to meet the ever-changing needs of our local community.

Dougie Mac relies on fundraisers to continue doing the amazing work it does. To run the hospice each year costs £11.2 million and around 75% of this amount is funded through the generosity of the local people.
