The Borderline Challenge

The Royal Agricultural Benevolent Institution (RABI) is farming’s oldest charity working across England and Wales. Our aim is that no-one from the farming community should face adversity alone. We provide tailored advice, access to counselling, practical and financial support, and so much more.

Story

The Borderline Challenge was a one-of-a-kind endurance event across the Republic of Ireland, Northern Ireland, Scotland and England.

In June 2026 we are returning to finish what we started by completing the swim of the North Channel from Donaghadee in Northern Ireland to Portpatrick in Scotland.

We covered 550km in 4 days through cycling (400km), swimming (35km), and running (115km).

The majority of farmers surveyed across different studies believe that mental health is the biggest issue facing the agricultural industry. Being from a large farming family we have seen first hand the need for the Royal Agricultural Benevolent Institution (RABI).

RABI studies show that around a third of farmers are considered "probably or possibly depressed" and nearly half of farmers surveyed by RABI reported experiencing some form of anxiety.

Now more than ever, the farming community need support from their networks and RABI.
