Story
The Collaboration Choir: Generations In Harmony Project in aid of BBC Children in Need is a personal challenge with a shared purpose: to bring people of different ages together through song, celebrate community, and raise vital funds for a cause that supports children and young people when they need it most. Our story is about more than music; it is about connection, compassion, and showing what can happen when generations stand side by side.
At the heart of our Autumn 2026 term, we are uniting a community of more than 900 members, aged 18 to 80, with young singers aged 6 to 18 to create something joyful, meaningful, and full of hope. Launching in November 2026, the project will begin with three spectacular flashmob performances in central London.
This will be followed by school outreach and workshops, and culminate in local Christmas concerts in December 2026. Together, these moments will help us inspire new voices, strengthen community links, and raise awareness and support for BBC Children in Need.
We believe every young person deserves the chance to be heard, encouraged, and included. That is why our project will reach into local secondary schools, especially those with limited music opportunities, to share the experience of singing and performance with the next generation. There are no auditions and no expectation of perfection; just the invitation to join in, learn, and be part of something bigger. Through this approach, we hope to champion access to music and build confidence, belonging, and creativity.
Our launch event will bring together performers and their families for a joyful surprise sing at an iconic, child-friendly central London location, where we aim to create a super-choir of 300 voices. From there, our school workshops and community concerts will build momentum toward a series of Christmas performances that celebrate collaboration, generosity, and the power of shared song. This is our chance to turn creativity into action and advocacy into real support for children who need it.
We are asking for your support to help us reach our fundraising target of £10,000. Please donate if you can, share our story, and help us make this project a success for the whole community.
Together, we can make music that matters.
