Story
On May 5th, 2012, Jenny Rayner and her family were forever changed by the devastating impact of mental illness when their daughter, Lucy, tragically took her own life at just 22 years old. Reflecting on this loss, the Rayner family recognised they had not been equipped to identify the signs of mental health struggles or comprehend the depth of Lucy’s pain. Determined to prevent other families from enduring such heartbreak, they committed themselves to learning about mental health and sharing their knowledge within the community.
The Lucy Rayner Foundation was born from this mission. It offers six weeks of free counseling sessions to young adults aged 14 to 39 in Surrey, proudly operating without a waiting list. This is a critical service, as many other counseling providers have waiting times of up to nine months, leaving individuals without the immediate help they need.
Understanding the urgency of mental health support, the foundation also runs various support groups for all ages and manages the Surrey Suicide Bereavement Service, providing essential care to families affected by suicide.
The funds generously donated by Kingswood Golf Club will enable the foundation to continue delivering these life-changing services. £210.00 will provide one young adult with six session. Every contribution makes a direct impact, helping to reduce the devastating effects of mental health challenges and suicide within our communities.
Every penny raised by Kingswood Golf Club will go towards our counselling services, ensuring young adults in need receive the care they deserve.
