We sadly lost a family friend to suicide last month. When suicide affects your circle, you question everything leading to that point and how you could have helped to save them. Unfortunately all we can do now is use our platform to help spread awareness. We have a cracking venue, a cracking team and are lucky enough to know some fantastic people in the industry.

So, along with our Charity Comedy evening this July for @andysmanclubuk (Tickets available at the bar, details on our social media platforms), some of our fabulous team have got their thinking caps on and decided to dust off their hiking boots to attempt the beautiful 40 mile hike across East Devon on their day off.

With Head chef Henry leading the way (chief water boy) it will be an early 4am start from Lyme Regis across to Exmouth. Before returning back to The Nightjar for a well earned pint.

We’d found out about Andy’s man club a couple of years ago when it helped a dear friend through a very hard time. ♥️

So, we are delighted to take part in this team walk on Monday 17th July and host another Charity Comedy Night on Thursday 20th July in collaboration with @lukehonnoraty and @brooklandsevents for @andysmanclubuk . (Please contact the pub if you’d like to attend the comedy evening) We hope that by doing these fundraisers we can help to raise awareness to men and families locally and beyond, that you are not alone.

ANDYSMANCLUB are a men’s suicide prevention charity, offering free-to-attend peer-to-peer support groups across the United Kingdom and online. They want to end the stigma surrounding men’s mental health and help men through the power of conversation. #ITSOKAYTOTALK

On average one man every two hours takes his life in the UK. It’s often said a factor is that men don’t talk. That’s why ANDYSMANCLUB was born. Established in 2016 by Luke Ambler, Andy’s brother-in-law, the aim of the club is to break down these stigmas, support men struggling, and lend a hand to suicide prevention.
