This exciting multi activity challenge takes us from our base on the shores of Lake Windermere, west towards Coniston and the looming heights of The Old Man, before returning via Coniston Water back to Windermere!

Our challenge starts with a 10 mile cycle that takes us first to Bowness on Windermere, where we cross the lake via the ferry, before continuing a gradual ascent past the beautiful Esthwaite Water and through Hawkshead before descending into the village of Coniston.

Swapping pedals for boots it’s time to tackle the trekking element of the challenge by ascending The Old Man of Coniston, with a height gain of almost 700m, it’s no mean feat to reach the summit! After a short rest and hopefully some wonderful views we head down via Goat’s Water back to Coniston.

We retrace our cycle route back to Windermere where we take on the final challenge of the day by paddling a 2 mile loop around some islands and across the lake. On windy days the surface of the lake can be quite choppy so the exact route will be managed depending on the conditions on the day. Paddling back to our base marks the successful completion of this tough but wonderful challenge!
