Story
Hi all,
In what seemed like a brilliant idea at the time, but is quickly becoming an ever looming terrifying reality, we will be running 42.2km at the 2026 London Marathon. We will be running on behalf of Leeway Domestic Violence and Abuse Services, a small underfunded charity that supports all victims of domestic violence with vital life saving help on a daily basis.
We have chosen this charity because the cause is deeply personal to us. Lauren has been a direct victim of domestic violence in the past, and Gabriella is proud to stand beside her to support this important cause.
We would like to thank everyone in advance for their kindness and support, any donation will be extremely appreciated by Leeway and us.
Now for the mind blowing facts about domestic violence the UK....
It is estimated that only 20% of domestic violence victims actually report their abuse to the police. The majority remain trapped in a relentless cycle of isolation, suffocated by fear and control. It is a trap that is incredibly hard and dangerous to break out of alone. Leeway provides the help needed to escape this cycle, offering safe houses and long lasting, comprehensive support plans for victims.
- In 2025 an estimated 2.2 million females and 1.5 million males experienced domestic violence.
- Every 4 days a woman is killed by a current or former partner in England and Wales.
- 30 men are killed each year as a result of domestic abuse.
- 1 in 3 women and 1 in 5 men will experience domestic abuse during their lifetime.
- 20% of children in the UK have witnessed domestic violence in the home.
