Anthony Nolan saves the lives of people with blood cancer. Founded in 1974, by growing our register of stem cell donors, conducting research and supporting patients, Anthony Nolan cures blood cancer and blood disorders. But we need to do more. Without you, there is no cure.

Story

Victor Stairmand, OA 2009, is what today’s media might call ‘a generational talent’. A leader on (almost any) pitch and an Old Albanian that has certainly earned his stripes both on and off the field, currently working as a Director at UBS.

It only takes a few steps across the Woollams pavillion to see that legacy still shining bright, etched on Captaincy leaderboards and even gracing the revered Woollams sporting ‘Wall of Fame’.

When he can, Victor is a Stalwart behind the posts for Old Albanian Football Club (The only OA team to solely consist of of former St Albans School pupils), however he is currently embracing a challenge of another kind.

Kindly granting permission to share his on-going journey and battle with Acute Leukaemia, we all stand here today to generate awareness of The Anthony Nolan Trust who are doing remarkable things to support others who are in a similar position to Victor.

Every day, Anthony Nolan saves the lives of people with a blood cancer or blood disorder. They do this by matching incredible individuals willing to donate their stem cells to people who desperately need a lifesaving transplant. They also carry out cutting edge scientific research, fund specialist post-transplant nurses and support patients and their families through the transplant process and beyond.

We stand here today to join the mission of saving the lives of everyone who needs a stem cell transplant, with every penny bringing this mission closer to a reality.
