Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
Mental health problems have been in my life since I was a kid. From social anxiety, health anxiety, ptsd, deppression over the last five years, I’ve noticed things getting worse. Being now diagnosed with depressive psychosis.....
Feelings of hopelessness and isolation had crept in, along with a fear of being in big groups of people, insomnia, swings in my emotions, and suicidal feelings. And now im able to do most of the things I enjoy with less symptoms with the thanks of the proper help & support and the right medication 💊 👍
My psychiatrist and doctors have helped find a course of antipsycotic medications along with my antidepressants that works for me, after years of fighting with my own emotions and self worth I can now feel the path in front of me getting clearer, but not everyone is as fortunate as me.
In june 2021 I decided to walk 95 miles from exmouth to swanage but only managed 74 miles due to injury and finished at durdle door on the jurassic coast and raise nearly 1,300 for bristol mind, and in june 2023 I decided to walk 200 miles from Newquay to Minehead over 15 days from 23 June 2023 to raise money for Rethink Mental Illness i managed to raise £1,080 rethink mental illness. On june 29th 2024 i will be doing a tandom jump for my rethink mental illness charity In September 2024 i hiked across 3 national parks embarking on the coast to coast walk wild hiking over 12 days spaning 192 miles.....i have also decided to set up a direct debit from my bank account so that 2% of my own money comes out of my account each month, ive just writen my first book called the "THE HARDEST WALK " this book reflects on my life of suffering with various mental health conditions from tramatic experiences too walking/hiking out in nature and this has given me the title of my bookMy Book will be ready to pre-order on Amazon late september 2025 once my Book gets published 50% of my royalties goes to my charity......rethink Mental Illness & bristol community services (bristol rethink)are a charity I really believe in.. One I know will not stop fighting until we have a world that truly cares for people living with mental illness.
Im march 2026 i will embark into my next adventure and thats hiking in iceland, again this is for rethink mental illness
Training is going well (despite my early onset COPD!) and I’m mentally preparing for the wild camping that I always do on my adventures
If you can spare any money at all, I’d be so grateful. Let’s show the world it’s OK not to be OK.
Thank you – Bryan Smith, AKA, The Walking Man from bristol
