Story

I'm running to say thank you to Macmillan and all the medical teams for helping my Mum get better.

I'm racing the London Marathon on April 26th and the Royal Parks Half Marathon on October 11th. Anything you can give would be so kind. Thank you.

How it started?

One balmy evening in the summer of 2024, Enzo and I were walking in Greenwich and stopped for a pint and a bowl of water to watch the big screen showing the Paris Olympics. The women's 1500m was on and from nowhere Team GB's Georgia Bell kicked for home to take bronze. Her post race interview was inspiring - she talked about falling out of love with running through injury, until that love was rekindled by parkrun. The following week Enzo and I ran parkrun. Once again, the fire was lit.

How it's going?

London Marathon 2026 will be 21 years on from my first London Marathon in 2005. As a Greenwich boy this is my home race in front of my home crowd. I can't wait. I have been channeling whippet energy with Enzo to hone my finishing kick, plus plenty of naps on the sofa.

Royal Parks Half Marathon 2026 ups the ante. You've all been very generous donating to my 2 previous marathon efforts so I wanted to give you an extra run for your money. 13.1 more miles around the world's greatest city.

At the finish?

Mum, Dad and all our family will be going for lunch by the river after the races. In typical Jane and Brian style there will likely be fizz and it likely won't touch the sides.

Why Macmillan?

Macmillan Cancer Support provides vital care to people living with cancer. They're there when it matters most - as a family we know that firsthand. And your donation helps them continue their incredible work.

How's the whippet?

Enzo remains undefeated over 5k. He is currently asleep on the sofa.

Thanks everyone ❤️
