The Earthquake Walk for Syria and Turkey

130km Hike · 11 March 2023
Sometimes we have a natural urge as people to feel pain for those in need. But the human is fickle, and often or not this pain becomes a frustration, an itch, a guilt; where a donation or a prayer just cannot suffice. A human sometimes needs to take a physical action to appease some of the guilt that rests upon his/her soul.
What our brothers and sisters in Syria and Turkey are going through is something that we as first world beings cannot comprehend. The complete and utter devastation that has struck the region is surely an intimate reminder to us that God is Great and our lives are but a mere figment of his creation, but also a general reminder that in order to truly serve the purpose of God, we must serve one another in times of need.
At the lowest level we can give our material wealth to support larger beings and charities in their aid to the affected areas and people.
Although at a higher level, we can give our self-acclaimed precious time to physically be present and help directly.
And somewhere in between, we have conceived an idea to Walk the distance of the Radius from the epicentre of the initial quake that struck the region. Although the impact of the quake was much larger - this walk will give us an indication of really how much devastation and how many lives were directly affected on a real personal basis.
The walk is intended to be approx 130km, and the route has been provisionally planned from Liverpool to Bradford. It is estimated to take anywhere between 20-24hours, which will include a couple of pre planned pit stops.
We are currently aiming to undertake it on Saturday 11th March beginning at around 6pm.
First and foremost, if you are able bodied and can allocate your time - we would humbly request your blessed presence on the journey, or even part of it wherever you see fit.
Beyond this, those who cannot we request your support and donations which will be 100% towards the charity proceeds through Greensville Trust.
And lastly, we request your prayers for all those affected - and for God to hold our intentions clear and high in all that we do. Ameen
