Story

In June, (date TBC) the boys and I will be climbing Mount Snowdon and (hopefully 🤞) making it to the summit!

We are raising money for a great cause-Autism Together, whose mission it is to enhance the lives of people with autism and allow people on the spectrum to reach their full potential.

This will be a huge feat for all the boys, particularly Oliver and Jack who both have ASD and other complex needs. As a family, we understand first hand the difficulty that autistic people face, and the struggles of families trying to access the services and support they desperately need. It’s not going to be an easy journey for the boys, but with plenty of encouragement, I know they’ll have the strength and determination to overcome their difficulties and achieve something they never dreamt possible.

It’s been a difficult few years for our family. For every step forward, we’ve taken two steps back. We’ve had to fight every step of the way to gain access to the services that are needed to ensure the boys grow and develop in a world that they’re entirely unsure, and often afraid of. And we’re still fighting. We’re lost in a system that lacks the knowledge and resources to enable our children to develop and progress in a way that nurtures their differences and helps them to reach their true potential. I know this is the case for not just our family, but many others. If we can share our story and encourage others to listen, then we’re a little closer to a world that is more understanding and more accepting of people with autism.

For families like ours, the successes of our children, however small, are our greatest achievements.❤️

Much love,

Leah, Oliver, Thomas & Jack x
