Story
I’m running the Hackney Half this year in memory of my Nanna, Lesley.
At her funeral, we chose to support Médecins Sans Frontières, and so many people gave so generously. It felt right to continue raising money for the same charity. My Nanna was a nurse, and this charity was very close to her heart. I followed in her footsteps and also trained as a nurse, so it’s a cause that means a lot to me as well.
Médecins Sans Frontières (Doctors Without Borders) provides impartial medical humanitarian aid in conflict zones, natural disasters and epidemics- getting care to people who need it most.
I’m not a natural runner at all (!!) but this feels like something I can do for her. It’s coming up to a year since we lost her, and I wanted to find a way to do something positive in her name.
Nanna used to say she was going for a run and would somehow end up in the pub afterwards. I fully intend to honour that tradition. Please make the post-run pint feel well earned by donating what you can to this brilliant charity. Any support, whether that’s a donation or just encouragement, means a lot.
Thank you for helping me do this for her x
