Story
On Sunday 26th April 2026, I am one of a team of 4 runners taking part in the TCS London Marathon, raising money for Cardiff & Vale Health Charity.
Running the London Marathon is something that my sister Rosie and I will be doing together, in memory of our mum Harriet. She was training for the London Marathon in 2009, while in remission from her cervical cancer diagnosis. Unfortunately, the cancer returned more aggressively during her training, so she was unable to complete the event. She later died in 2010. Being able to undertake the challenge in her memory 16 years on is a huge honour for us both. Our dad has completed a number of fundraisers over the years, and have even been able to use the same JustGiving page as our mum, which still has her story and donation messages: https://www.justgiving.com/fundraising/harrietcrosby?utm_medium=FR&utm_source=CL
I have been employed by the health board in some capacity since 2017, though have been working as a mental health nurse since 2019. I currently work within Mental Health Services for Older People, supporting those with severe mental illess and dementia. Through this, I've experienced first-hand the work done by Cardiff and Vale UHB in supporting some of the most vulnerable patients with complex needs, emphasising quality of life. Raising money for a cause that I work with so closely means that I understand what valuable help can be offered with funds raised.
I appreciate any donation, big or small. Thank you so much!
