Story
This September, I’m running the Great North Run half marathon in support of The Miscarriage Association — a cause that is deeply personal to me.
I work as a Healthcare Assistant in Early Pregnancy Assessment, supporting people through some of the most uncertain and emotionally difficult moments of their lives. Through my work, I see every day how common pregnancy loss is, how complex the grief can be, and how often people feel frightened, unheard, or alone.
In December, after a very difficult period in my life, I experienced a miscarriage myself. It completely devastated me. Despite my professional background, nothing could have prepared me for the heartbreak that came with that loss, or the depth of grief that followed.

When a miscarriage happens, it can feel as though your grief doesn’t have a place in the open. The loss is real and profound, yet often invisible. It’s so important to speak about these babies — to speak their existence into the world and to honour the joy and love they sparked, however brief that time may have been.
I am running for my baby — carried for a moment, but loved and remembered for a lifetime — and for everyone who has experienced pregnancy loss.
The Miscarriage Association provides vital support, trusted information, and safe spaces for people to grieve openly and without shame, while also working to improve awareness, understanding, and care.
Running 13.1 miles will be a huge challenge, but one I’m incredibly proud to dedicate to this cause. Any donation, no matter the size, truly makes a difference, and helps ensure that those who are grieving are met with compassion, understanding, and support.
Thank you so much for reading, donating, sharing, or supporting me in any way. It means more than I can say.
With love and gratitude,
Thea x
