Story
Friends of the much-loved businessman have launched an appeal to fund a special place, helping people facing cancer across Liverpool and the wider region. The garden will support the delivery of Maggie's life-affirming programme of services and therapeutic activities offered to people with cancer and to their families.
Mr Owen, who died aged 82 in April, found great solace in the garden at his family home near Chester during the later stages of his own cancer journey.
Barry's Garden will embody the qualities Barry shared so freely: empathy, positivity and peace. It will be a place where people affected by cancer can find calm, reflect, and reconnect.
This garden will stand as a beautiful, living memorial to Barry Owen: a space that continues his legacy of kindness and care, supporting thousands of people every year.
To bring this vision to life, we invite Barry’s friends, family, colleagues, and supporters to contribute to the support given in Barry’s Garden.
Your donation will help us create a space that touches lives daily. A place of reflection, connection, and hope for people facing cancer across Liverpool and the wider region.
Let’s grow something together… with your support, Barry’s Garden will become a place of transformation and healing, filled with life, movement, and care, just as Barry would have wanted.
We would like to extend our heartfelt thanks to our founding donors, Iceland Foods Charitable Foundation, Boodles Charitable Trust, Andy and Patricia Pritchard, Mason Owen, and Jim Clarke, who have collectively contributed an incredible £150,000 to launch this vital fund. We warmly welcome others to join them and support in any way you can.
If you’d like to make a direct donation or discuss ways to support The Barry Owen Garden, please feel free to contact Sasha at thebarryowengarden@outlook.com.
Thank you.
