I will be taking on the London marathon once again, only this time I will be doing this for real after being fortunate enough to have gotten through the ballot.
On Sunday 21 April, I will be taking on the sights and sounds of London with the support of my biggest fans, my family and will be using the experience to try and get round the course quicker than my last marathon. This was supposed to take place last year but due to various injuries during my preparation, I had to postpone. This year however, I have worked my way up to distance and have amassed over 200 miles of training runs since January and am now able to take this on with everything I have!
I am running for NARF as my daughter, Tilly, has suffered with a severe airborne peanut allergy and we have, for the last 12 years, worried about her welfare wherever she goes. She has had to receive her epi-pen on several occasions and has then had to be admitted to hospital while she recovers from the adrenalin, and I cannot tell you how anxious this makes us. Even the simplest of tasks must have military style preparation in place so that we know she can be safe. While some places are really accommodating to this and are prepared to provide a safe area, others are not quite so welcoming, and this really limits us as to where we can go. We would love to find a cure for this, and this is why I am running for NARF. If I could raise awareness of the work, they do and manage to get a few pounds heading their way then I have done my little bit to help.
I appreciate times are hard and finances are getting tighter so I’m not expecting everybody to chip in but if you can give something, even if it’s simply the price of a coffee, everything will be going straight back to the charity so they can continue working on saving lives for the future.
