Story
In 2021, Carina was diagnosed with Stage 3/Grade 3 Triple Negative Breast Cancer days after her 34th Birthday. Following 9 months of treatment including chemotherapy at the Christie Cancer Care centre in Wigan- surgery and radiotherapy, she was told she had 'No evidence of disease'. Sadly, fast forward to this year- June 2025, Carinas cancer has returned and she received a secondary breast cancer diagnosis. She is currently in active treatment, having chemotherapy and immunotherapy.
Her husband, Mark and his friend Pat, are taking on (for the first time!) a 15,000ft Skydive next month in Lancaster (Saturday 18th October 25’) at 12:00pm- to raise essential funds to support the Cancer Care centre in Wigan. We will film the jump, which will be tandem and 3 miles high!
The Cancer Care centre needs tv monitors and Comfort items for patients, particularly those who are having long-term treatment. There are many other ideas we have to support and develop the centre for all who are treated there. The staff and patients deserve our full support, it is an amazing centre and we in the Wigan community are so grateful it is there for us.
The Cancer Care Centre at Wigan Infirmary opened in 2016 and offers some chemotherapy treatments which used to be undertaken at the Christie. This means it is much easier for patients and reduces travelling time whilst they are undergoing treatment.
The Centre offers a wide range of complementary therapy treatments for example reiki and massage are offered at the Centre, which many patients find very helpful and eases some of their symptoms. There is also a sensory garden which has been designed to give cancer patients, their families and carers a relaxing, comfortable retreat within the Hospital grounds.
Three Wishes Cancer Care, relies on charitable donations, to support and develop they fabulous service they offer there. Funds we raise and donations you make will be used to improve the environment and experiences of our cancer patients and their families, including Carina x
