Story
Myself and Sophie are running the Cardiff Half Marathon for Dementia UK after we have recently first hand seen what this horrible disease can do to the strongest, most determined man our Dad/ Grandad, who we have recently lost to this cruel disease.
Growing up Barney our Dad we genuinely thought he was Hulk Hogan, always wore vest, muscles, tattoos and always exercised, biked, weights right up till he was in his late 80s.
We have never run such a distance, and both have our own physical problems, however nothing in comparison to the strength the B man showed throughout his fight So we want to make him proud, whilst raising money to help.
Dementia UK is the specialist dementia nurse charity. Our nurses, called Admiral Nurses, provide life-changing care to families affected by all forms of dementia, including Alzheimer's disease. They help people with dementia stay independent for longer, and support the people caring for them so they have the strength to cope with the bad days, and the energy to enjoy the good days. They have the time to listen and the knowledge to solve problems, helping families take back control when they are struggling.
