The Bobby Challenge

On 25th September 2025, our world changed forever when we unexpectedly lost Bobby at just 35 years old following a sudden cardiac arrest.

Despite the incredible efforts of his wife, who immediately began CPR, and the outstanding care provided by the NHS, Bobby could not be saved.

In the months that followed, we learned that Bobby had been living with an undiagnosed genetic heart condition called Hypertrophic Cardiomyopathy (HCM), which had caused his heart to become enlarged. We had no idea. There were no obvious warning signs. He was simply here one day and gone the next.

We believe that if his condition had been identified when symptoms were first reported, his story may have been very different.

Bobby was a loving husband, devoted dad, cherished son, brother, uncle and an incredible friend. He lived life to the fullest, loved fiercely, and would do absolutely anything for the people he cared about. His loss has left a space in our lives that can never truly be filled.

Rather than let Bobby’s story end with the day we lost him, we wanted to create a lasting legacy in his name—one that raises awareness, saves lives, and helps ensure other families don’t have to experience the heartbreak that ours has.

That legacy is The Bobby Challenge.

Throughout 2026, our family and friends are taking on a series of fundraising events, all building towards one unforgettable weekend marking the first anniversary of Bobby’s passing.

🚴 Carl’s Challenge

Bobby’s lifelong best friend, Carl, will undertake an extraordinary endurance challenge by completing the National Three Peaks, cycling between each mountain.

Over several days, Carl will climb Ben Nevis, Scafell Pike and Snowdon, while cycling the entire distance between them before finishing at Preston North End Football Club on 25th September—exactly one year since we lost Bobby.

It is a challenge of physical endurance, mental strength and unwavering friendship, completed in memory of his best friend.

🪂 Danielle’s Skydive

Bobby’s wife, Danielle, will face one of her greatest fears by jumping from 15,000 feet, free-falling at speeds of over 120mph alongside Carl.

For someone who has never liked heights, this is far more than just a skydive. It is a deeply personal challenge undertaken in Bobby’s memory and a way of raising vital funds and awareness for a cause that now means everything to our family.

💙 Bold Like Bob

Bobby’s nephew, James, has chosen to shave off all of his hair in support of The Bobby Challenge.

Making this tribute even more special, Bobby’s daughter, Tilly, will be the one holding the clippers—a moment that symbolises courage, love and the incredible strength she has shown since losing her daddy.

🎩 Bobby’s Ball

Our fundraising journey will conclude with Bobby’s Ball—a black-tie charity evening celebrating Bobby’s life while bringing together family, friends and supporters.

It will be an evening filled with laughter, memories and celebration, alongside live entertainment, auctions, raffles and fundraising, all in support of two incredible charities making a real difference to families affected by heart conditions.

The funds raised will support Heartbeat North West Cardiac Care, helping to provide lifesaving cardiac rehabilitation, education, CPR training, defibrillator awareness and vital support for people living with heart conditions and their families.

This is only the beginning…

The Bobby Challenge isn’t just about one year of fundraising.

Our long-term vision is to grow it into something much bigger—a lasting legacy that supports families and children who suddenly lose loved ones to undiagnosed heart conditions.

We want to help provide support when families need it most, create opportunities and experiences for bereaved children, raise awareness of inherited heart conditions, and educate as many people as possible in the lifesaving importance of CPR and defibrillator use.

Because one day, that knowledge could save someone’s husband.

Someone’s wife.

Someone’s mum or dad.

Someone’s child.

But right now, this first challenge is for Bobby.

Every mile ridden.

Every mountain climbed.

Every jump taken.

Every head shaved.

Every ticket bought.

Every pound raised.

For a man who gave everything to everyone else.

Now it’s our turn to do something extraordinary for him.
